Tuesday: Random Assortment of Concepts

Here come the always popular colour coded voting reminders for you Committee Members!
COTW July 30-Aug 5 vote (ends Thursday @ 11:59pm EST)
July-COTY vote (ends Thursday @ 11:59pm EST)
FLA 3rd Comp Top 5 vote (ends Sunday @ 11:59pm EST)

I've added it to the page now, but I had previously forgotten to mention that in the Panthers' Top 5 vote you ARE allowed to vote for yourself. If this affects how you have already voted then feel free to send in your votes again. Just be sure to mention that you are re-submitting your votes in the email. Also, you MUST send in your old votes so I know what to erase. If you don't do that then I can't count your new votes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Nashua South Panthers concepts (by Brady)
Both jerseys are cool, yet I would like to see the home match the road or the road match the home. I prefer the concept with the three stripes. 7/10

Spingfield The Simpsons concept (by Felix T.)
This one starts to get creative which is good. I'm sure interest will fade though because of execution errors. Namely, the inside of the jersey on the front view has not been coloured. People really appreciate when concept artists put that kind of time and effort into their work. I also strongly suggest saving in PNG format as this JPG stuff really lowers the quality. 6/10

Peoria Rivermen concept (by NB14)
The classic simplicity idea could be cool, but the arched wordmark used here just doesn't have enough of a presence. I also don't like how the numbers on the arms are bolded, but the front and player numbers are not. 6/10

Binghamton Senators concepts (by Cody)
On second look, didn't Cody send these in before? Just placing AHL tags on them does not make them a new concept. Also, the laurel leaves on the back view of the concept on the arms should be going the other way to make a band that circles the entire stripe. 6/10

Ottawa Senators concept (by Darren H.)
I like this one. I think the O shield crest that has been pieced together here is strong enough that the should patches aren't needed. Again here we have the same issue as the previous concept, where the leaves should go the other way on the back view. 7/10

Carolina Hurricanes concept (by Jeremy T.)
I like what Jeremy has done with the hem stripes, making it look like hurricane flags. Unfortunately, that is all he has done to the alternate jersey. The other stripes remain the same which is too bad because the same pattern from the hem could have been given to the arms. Also, I personally don't think the Rangers' drop shadow numbers work here and I don't think they work with the NOB font either. Decent execution though. 6/10

Pinkerton Astros concepts (by Brady)
Pinkerton, isn't that the name of a Weezer album? Anyways, the classic style jerseys work again. However, there are so many star or astrological type designs that one could create, why would a team use another teams' logo in this situation? 7/10

Columbus Blue Jackets concept (by Tyler G.)
Tyler sent this to me and after I received it and emailed him back the next site I went to was NHL.com. That's when I found out that Nash had been traded to the Rangers. It made this concept kind of funny. The idea is good, but I think it could be even better if the thin sleeve stripes were the same pattern as the arm stripes, but they would stay as thin as they are now. 7/10

Sarnia Sting concepts (by GKennedy)
These look good and are very nicely executed. Any other team using these colours would look good in them, however I feel like the Sting already did this look when Stamkos was first with the team. It feels like it would be an unnecessary step backwards for the franchise. 8/10

Minnesota Wild concepts (by Kyle C.) *Description on concept. 8/10

Green Bay Packers concept (by Caz) *Description on concept. 8/10 *COTW nom from me!

Dallas Stars concepts (by Brandon C.)
I love this idea, re-colour the Stars! Hmmm, next competition anyone? I love the jersey striping too! My only small problem is the choice of red. With this blue it seems very "original box of 8 Crayola crayons". If the red were a different shade it could give this jersey some more life! 8/10

Actually, the colors are from the Texas state flag, not a box of Crayola crayons.

Woah, don't mess with Texas eh?

That's cool that the came from the flag, but a different shade of red would still add more character to the concept, IMO.

Thanks for the COTW nomination, Ryan!
Looking back, I wish I had subliminated those numbers underneath the back hem, instead of making them green. They're a bit distracting.

Actually, re-colour the Stars would be a cool contest if you ask me. Lone Stars instead of North Stars!
