Concepts, WHA entries and Some News

This comes from Nirva Milord, who is the Director of Entertainment Publicity for the NHL. She reports that the top selling player jerseys on Shop.NHL.com for the month of February were those of Henrik Lundqvist. The rest of the top 10 is as follows; 2-Giroux, 3-Ovechkin, 4-Callahan, 5-Datsyuk, 6-Malkin, 7-Toews, 8-T.Thomas, 9-Crosby, 10-Zetterberg. These obviously include home, road and 3rd jersey sales.

Have you entered the Sarnia Sting's (OHL) 3rd jersey design contest yet? If you have, send your entry into HJC also and I will post it. My entry has been sent in and will be posted here in a week or so. Make sure to visit the contest page and download their entry form.

Sportslogos.net and Icethetics have both linked to this, but go check out a lot of really bad Toronto Maple Leafs Winter Classic concepts that were sent into the Toronto Star for a meaningless contest. I sent in the one I created, but I guess it was ineligible...for some reason.

WHA ReDesign Entries

Denver Spurs (by Kyle C.)
Michigan Stags (by Tyler G.)

Dallas Stars concept (by Stephen T.)
The throwback jerseys are cool as is the striping on the 3rd jersey. The logo needs to be flipped horizontally because right now the 3rd sweater reads "ZTARS".

Dallas Stars concept (by Thomas L.)
Decent concept here. A couple of things to note, the hem stripes seems to be too high up. As well, the "DALLAS" in the logo would be more visible if it were white.

Chicago Blackhawks concept (by Spirit104)
A nice classic jersey here, but I am definitely not on board with replacing some of the yellow in the logos with neon green. I also think that the red stripes on the pants should match the thickness of the red jersey stripes. Finally, where are the TV numbers?

Nashville Predators concept (by Elias)
I like the simplification of the old 3rd jersey logo. Nice work there Elias. I'm not a fan of the gradients on the sleeves, but I think some people would like it and it would "melt" into the player's blue gloves nicely. I do think that the numbers on the back are too far apart.

Columbus Blue Jackets concepts (by MasonII)
These do look really nice and are really well executed. However, they seem to me like just re-coloured Nashville Predators jerseys.

Columbus Blue Jackets concepts (by Avi)
Avi has made use of the unused concept logo that he mocked-up for everyone a couple of weeks ago. I really like that he added the sticks detail to the sleeves. Also, the 3rd jersey is really great! It seems to be somewhat based on the original coloured Blue Jackets sweater. COTW nom from me!

Sherbrooke Phoenix concepts (by Stéphane)
This team will hit the ice in the QMJHL starting next season. Already Stéphane isn't happy with their uniforms and has suggested a lot of changes here. He has rid the team of the trendy vintage white and has added more colour into their logo. Stéphane has also removed the light blue and just gone with the darker blue, white, and grey/silver. Really nice concepts, but I wish that he had kept the shoulder patches.

I'll second Avi's Columbus concepts for COTW. Although they're minor changes to the jerseys I like his use of his alternate logo as well as the attention to detail on the sleeves. Good work!
