Big Bruins Blowout!!!

If you're a Bruins fan, you're going to enjoy today's post! First, I must remind everyone to vote for your favourite Thrashers ReDesign on the THRASHERS COMP page. It's still tied at the top and only one vote separates the top 6!

New York Rangers concept (by Zack)On Tuesday I posted a Rangers concept by Zack and stated that I thought that the red and blue should switch places. Zack did that and sent it in. He prefers the original version.

Atlanta Thrashers concept (by Brian)This is what Brian started with for the Thrashers ReDesign but, he couldn't get a white road jersey to match properly. So, he abandoned this idea and went with a powder blue design.

Anaheim Ducks concept (by Harry)I like this, it's a nice use of the colours. Not too "in your face". I would change a couple of things, like the grey at the hem and the Ducks shouldn't be wearing collar laces...yet.

Boston Bruins concept (by Ryan)I used the bear from the current shoulder logo. I was trying to create a very heritage looking jersey based on THIS logo. You know the types from the early 1900's where the animal crest was just a blog of material stitched on? You would really only know it was that animal because of the team name.

Boston Bruins concept (by Tex)Tex made this with a very vintage feel. I like the brown, as long as the gloves, pants and helmet were brown also. I think the crest needs somewhat of an outline.

Boston Bruins concept (by Scott)
This is a pretty cool yellow jersey and the striping is a little different from what we usually see. The mass amount of striping (that's a good thing) give this jersey a nice vintage look.

Boston Bruins concept (by Tex)This one is a little less vintage then Tex's last one. It reminds a little bit of the 80's jersey. I personally don't like the white collar, I think it should be black. That's just me though.

Good batch of concepts for today. If you are a Bruins fan, I hope you enjoyed this because tonight the Leafs are going to CRUSH YOU!!!!...not likely, the Leafs haven't crushed anyone in years.

There may not be a post over the next 3 days. I have a lot of plans and I may not be able to get to the computer. If there is a post it'll probably be in the middle of the night. If I do get only a few seconds I may post a quick hit concept on the Facebook page.

Caps, Glendale and More

Just over 24 hours left to vote for COTW. The leader currently has double the votes of 2nd place. When you vote do you think you're voting for the "underdog" or the "favourite"?

Washington Capitals concept (by Ryan)Being the capital of the States, I thought it fitting that Washington wear Team USA's Olympic striping. I placed the striping on the same cut jersey as their Winter Classic. I also put stars on the sleeve in the same style that the Americans had the design on theirs in Vancouver.

Washington Capitals concepts (by Spirit104)The "weagle" in a circle does have a neat retro feel to it. Thus, I like it on the shoulders on the blue jersey. I also like the striping on the blue jersey. The star logo might be a little too plain though.

Detroit Red Wings (by Harry)This is Harry's first contribution to HJC. He's taken the Wings' white jersey and switched it to red. To give it a vintage feel, he's used the old style logo and laces at the collar.

Glendale Guardians concepts (by Magnus)Magnus notes that one option that the city of Glendale may consider is a minor league team. So, he created the Glendale Guardians.

Lethbridge Hurricanes concept (by Scott)After Scott saw Jack's Lethbridge concepts he sent in his. Eventhough that Taz logo was an official logo, there might be problems nowadays with copyrights etc. I like the jersey except for the numbers on the front, a style already employed by Lethbridge.

Minnesota Wild concept (by Mason)I prefer this jersey in green. If it wasn't a Wild jersey it would be fine. That home jersey crest does make a good shoulder patch though.

Columbus Blue Jackets concept (by Tex)Nice jersey and I like the varsity numbers on it. They fit the Jackets well. Yet, I think this jersey needs hem stripes. I also appreciate that Tex resisted the temptation the use white laces on the collar.

That's what I got for today. Also, if you haven't voted for the Thrashers ReDesign yet, be sure to by clicking on the banner on the right side of the page. The top 10 are only separated by 3 votes!

Quick Hit Tuesday Concepts

A little bit of an earlier post today. That's because I'm about to head out to the ACC to see the Leafs/Sabres game. Here's hoping for a Sabres' 3rds vs Leafs 3rds match-up (not very likely).

Ottawa Senators concept (by Tex)Tex knows that this is not what the new 3rd will look like but, he does like the look of the jersey itself. It's a touch too plain for me. It's getting into Dallas Stars territory.

Columbus Blue Jackets concept (by Charles)Charles put the usual crest on the third jersey and moved the canon logo to the chest as a patch. I like that idea but, the red now seems out of place here.

New York Rangers concept (by Zack)Zack used the NYR wordmark here. I think the red and blue should switch places. After all, the Rangers sometimes are called the "Broadway Blueshirts".

Boston Bruins concept (by Spirit104)I like the slight changes to the vintage crest that Spirit has made here. I think the bear on the shoulder may need to be black or have a black outline though. Imagine trying to see it on TV? I don't think you could.

Toronto Maple Leafs concept (by Jack)As a traditionalist, this one makes my blood curdle. I do like the pants though. Maybe others will have much more unbiased comments than myself.

Dallas Stars concepts (by Mason)Mason gave the Stars a complete overhaul here. It's a lot of stars but, it's far better than what they have now. I'm also really enjoying that alternate complete with Texas Rangers lettering.

Ohio State concept (by Tex)I have to tell you that I watch ZERO college hockey. So, I personally wouldn't know how to react to this jersey. It's grey and I like that but, I don't like the striping down the sides. I do like the striping on the arms though.

Week of March 28 - April 3, 2011

Here we go, another week!

First order of business, I must appologioze to Jack. He sent in his Thrashers ReDesign WAYYY before the deadline and I was an idiot and forgot to post it. Here it is now.
Atlanta Thrashers ReDesign (by Jack)

COTW nominees are posted on the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK page. Voting is on the left side of the page and runs until Thursday @ 11:59 EST. Be sure to check them out and cast your vote. The new rules worked as the nominations were under more control.

Voting is now underway in the Thrashers ReDesign. You can vote and view all of the entries on the THRASHERS COMP page. Voting runs until Sunday @ 11:59pm EST.

Last week's Weekly Poll had the best response to date. I asked who should be able to wear the North Stars logo in a Winter Classic, Dallas or Minnesota. Dallas was leading for most of the week but, only by a few votes. Minnesota got some more votes over the weekend and sqeeked out a victory with 52% of the vote. My choice was Minnesota but, I consider this a 50-50 split.
This week's poll asks who, of the listed defunct teams, wore your favourite sweaters. Voting is on the right side of the page and runs until Sunday @ 11:59pm EST.

Hamilton Tigers concepts (by Stéphane)Speaking of defunct teams, Stéphane sent in this really awesome Hamilton Tigers concept. The logo is based off of clipart. (sorry if I mis-quoted you on that Stéphane) The jerseys are different yet, I like them. Plus the heritage 3rd jersey looks great.

Winnipeg Jets concepts (by Spirit104)Spirit used the Houston Aeros old logo for the Jets' main jerseys here. I like that logo with the red and blue that is used on the grey alt.

California Golden Seals (by Scott)Not much change here but, it is neat to see the old jerseys put on to the Edge template.

Minnesota Wild concept (by Brian)Ok, not really an extinct team but, the jersey has a great heritage look to it. Brian does a great job converting current teams' looks into the heritage format and check out the new logo.

Lots of voting to do, and lots of comments to leave.

Rangers, Blues and Lethbridge

When the Sens released that video giving us a sneak peak at their upcoming jersey. I, probably like many of you, sat there studying it. After I was done with the jersey I focused on the new logos. Obviously the Ottawa shield logo gives us nothing except that it was a shield and it probably says Ottawa. So I created this;
Ottawa Senators logo concept (by Ryan)
The next item was the 20th anniversary patch, which now that I think of it, may appear in the shield above.
Ottawa Senators logo concept (by Ryan)
Tampa Bay is also going to have to create one of these (probably already has). I look forward to seeing that also.

Feel free to steal these and mod them and use them as you wish.

New York Rangers concept (by Mason)I like this but, I think it would be better without the shoulder yokes. Or, if you want the shoulder yokes make them navy so it's just the outline of the yoke.

St. Louis Blues concept (by Spirit104)I like trying to do something different on the shoulders. I think you need something else happening on the jersey also.

St. Louis Blues concept (by Chris)This is the Blues' 3rd jersey but, in honour of their 45th anniversary Chris has put a retro wordmark on the front.

Atlanta Flames concept (by Will)This is Will's come-to-life concept series. He's put an Atlanta Flames patch on a Calgary alternate jersey. The patch is in a circle to cover up some of the old printing on it. The jersey itself is actually quite good quality, which you can tell from the double elbows and weighted hem.

Lethbridge Hurricanes concepts (by Jack)Last week the WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes announced that they were looking for "design inspiration" for their 2012-13 alternate jersey. They wanted fans to send in entries. Jack sent me these concepts. No word on if he sent them in as entries.

Dallas Stars concept (by Chris)Chris, like many of us, is not happy with the Stars' jerseys. He set out to create something different. He used a clipart of the Dallas skyline and added the Star. The flags are borrowed from the Texas Rangers but, I think give an appropriate feel to the jersey.

Toronto Maple Leafs concept (by Jack)I like these jerseys. I think I would have liked them even more had someone shown them to me when the Leafs were wearing these. If the Leafs weren't so heavily steeped in tradition (not a bad thing) this would be accepted as a possible jersey.

Columbus Blue Jackets concepts (by Scott)For whatever reason, Columbus has been the most popular concept sent to me in 2011. I don't know why, because I think that they have one of the best sets in the league. These are good concepts, I just don't like the lighter blue on the collar of the road jersey.

You have just over 24 hours left to submit your Thrashers ReDesign. Deadline is tomorrow @ 11:59pm EST. So far, I have 14 entries! Response has been good again, yet down from the Pens comp. Hopefully I'll get a few last minute entries.

COTW Winner and More Concepts

For the 2nd week in a row Avi won the Concept of the Week. Also for the 2nd week in a row, he won with a Columbus Blue Jackets concept. You can see Avi's winning concept on the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK page. Results of the vote are below.
Although Avi lost the head to head vote (20-16) to Brian, he did manage to win COTW by ONE vote! Voting was very close this week. Avi's concept moves on to COTW for March voting, which will start a week from today! Which means two weeks from today we will have the 1st Quarter Vote!

Ottawa Senators concept (by Avi)Icethetics showed us some screen caps of a presentation the Sens made which showed pieces of their upcoming 3rd jersey. Based on those images, Avi sent in this concept.

Vancouver Canucks concept (by Spirit104)I think this jersey has potential but, I think it needs some white on it to brighten it up. Eventhough I do enjoy when people play around with the logos, I think there might be too much subtraction here. A few tweaks and this would be quite good.

New York Rangers concept (by Jack)I am one of few who has moved on from the Lady Liberty logo. I guess I have accepted that it's not coming back for a long time, if ever. I do like the jersey here though however, I would add hem stripes.

Kansas City Scouts concept (by Ryan)Last spring I abandoned a project I was doing on the site called the DHL. I thought this was my best concept of the bunch and now that I have way more readers I thought I'd re-do this Scouts concept.

Carolina Hurricanes concept (by Arjun)This is Arjun's first contribution to HJC. He has removed the black and used silver instead. I also think that the idea of the TV numbers on the shoulder yokes has some potential.

Buffalo Sabres concepts (by Chris)Chris has gone well off the beaten path with these Sabres concepts. He actually understands that they are a little out there but, he sent them in looking to get some feedback.

Montreal Canadiens concept (by Mason)I like this jersey but, it looks like a Leafs concept to me. And the Habs trying to be the Leafs doesn't work for either city. I do really like the idea of the logo returning to the arms stripes.

Los Angeles Kings concepts (by Gary)Gary is not a fan of the upcoming Kings' jersey switches. He really likes the purple and gold and finds the logo on the current alternate boring. So he was inspired by that logo and created this more colourful logo along with new purple and gold unis.

Keep sending in those Thrashers ReDesigns! Submission period ends Sunday @ 11:59pm EST. Voting starts on Monday.

Also, if you have yet to check out the new COTW rules, be sure to do so on the CONCEPT OF THE WEEK page.
